In order to begin planning your Local Chapter and to communicate proposed structure with National, please use the templates provided below to prepare a mission statement and budget, constitution, and advisor agreement form. Once completed, please e-mail documents to Additionally, please fill out the contact information form below.

Example template documents for a Local Chapter Constitution, Mission Statement with Budget/Programming and additional resources are available here and at the main APSA LC Webpage ( Please note that these are examples and all items contained therein may not apply or be equally relevant for all institutions. So, feel free to edit or alter these templates in order to create documents that will best serve the needs of your LC.

We encourage all interested in the physician-scientist training path to establish an LC. Importantly, LCs are not just for medical students- we encourage undergraduates and graduate medical trainees to form LCs and  join APSA's national physician-scientist trainee community too! In fact, the number of undergraduate chapters has increased dramatically over the past year and we expect this exciting growth to continue. Undergraduate chapters do not need to have an affiliated medical school at their institution to apply.

Note that the positions of President, Treasurer, and Institutional Representative are required. If your LC chooses to establish additional officer positions, please list those as well.
