Racial Injustice Statement - June 2020

The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) has named the American Physician Scientists Association (APSA) a 2020 Power of A Silver Award winner for our 2019 Physician Scientist Trainee Diversity Summit. APSA wants to recognize and thank all of our partners, whose contributions were vital to making the summit a success. APSA formed a physician scientist trainee diversity working group (PST-DWD) with these organizational stakeholders, and through the partnership and support of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF), the 2019 Diversity Summit brought together diverse individuals, from trainees to tenured professors, for two days at BWF’s headquarters in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. APSA’s Partnerships Committee spearheads efforts to negotiate, maintain, and plan for outreach and partnerships. Its primary goals are to increase APSA visibility, advocate for physician scientist training, and expand the benefits we are able to offer our members. We would like to thank the following organizations for specifically supporting our diversity and inclusion efforts: Burroughs Wellcome Fund, Association of American Physicians, American Society for Clinical Investigation, Building the Next Generation of Academic Physicians, Student National Medical Association, American Medical Women’s Association, Latino Medical Student Association, American Medical Student Association, and the Clinician Investigator Trainee Association of Canada.
