James Pauff, 2008-2009 APSA President, discusses his vision and goals with APSA leaders and members during the 2008 APSA Annual Meeting
We are honored to invite you to the 7th Annual Meeting of the American Physician Scientists Association held in Chicago, Illinois from Friday, April 15th until Sunday, April 17th, 2011. We are proud to be the largest meeting of physician-scientists trainees from around the world and will hold our plenary sessions at the prestigious Fairmont Hotel, within walking distance to the heart of Chicago’s cultural district. We welcome all training levels and expertise including students, residents, fellows, young investigators, professors, researchers, managers, CEOs, investigators, and clinicians to gather within a unique forum that fosters personal interaction between academia, industry, and government.
We are pleased to coordinate the APSA meeting with the Association of American Physicians (AAP) as well as the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) providing ample opportunities to expose you to an expansive number of diverse topics. Additionally, we are adding Medical Humanities, Social Sciences, and Healthcare Policy sessions to our schedule in an effort to expand our scope. Each year our constituents find themselves face to face with some of the top physician-scientists in the world; those who direct international scientific policy,s direct millions of dollars in funding, have received Nobel awards, and are the mentors of thousands of future researchers.
It is our hope that our APSA student members will be able to build new relationships with their own peers and colleagues. Poster sessions and selected abstract platform presentations offer each of you the opportunity to discuss, interact, and gather crucial advice from those whose research intersects your own. We are excited to continue to offer various Travel Awards made available by APSA and its partner organizations. Be sure to submit your abstract by the posted deadlines to be considered for these funds!
Finally, the Annual Meeting Committee has organized a variety of social activities to take place over the weekend. Our APSA Welcome Reception will be held at the Chicago Symphony Center 9th Floor Club (Directions) overlooking beautiful Millennium Park followed throughout the week by our young investigator mentorship breakfasts, professional breakout sessions, and various dinner options with your colleagues. We always hope you are able to build and expand your professional network as you catch up with old friends, meet new colleagues, and establish future mentor relationships. We look forward to your joining us at the Annual Meeting as we seek to strengthen the future of APSA: the foremost association dedicated to the physician-scientists and trainees.
