The 2016 APSA West Regional Meeting: Frontiers of Medicine. A conference for MD and PhD students to share research at any stage.
This meeting will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 at the University of Southern California, Aresty Auditorium, 1450 Biggy Street, Los Angeles, California 90033. For questions please contact either Alison Smith or Abhik Banerjee ([email protected]).
Who Should Attend: This meeting is for everyone with an interest in the Medical Sciences. Undergraduates through Post-Graduates are welcome! Our conference aims to provide a forum for physicians/scientists in-training to network with an interdisciplinary group of researchers in order to foster collaboration and mentorship. Our guest speakers will not only present their work, but they have also been asked to speak about their careers in Medical Science. Undergraduates with an interest in applying to MD/PhD programs are strongly encouraged to attend.

Cancellation Policy: In order to prevent waste of food and resources, we ask that you send your notice of cancellation by November 27th. Please, send your cancellation via email to [email protected].
Abstracts and Poster Sessions: Abstracts may be submitted in the text box on the registration page.
The poster session will highlight the outstanding research and hard work of the students who attend. We have purposefully left the definition of Medical Science broad in order to encourage a diverse pool of abstract submissions. Students in all phases of their training are welcome to submit. Experimental overviews and preliminary data will be considered.
We recommend posters no larger than 36" x 48".
Student and Post-Graduate submissions for oral presentations will be considered separately. Our Program Committee will aim to select a diverse panel of speakers that demonstrate excellence throughout all the stages of training. A total of 4-5 abstracts will be selected. Each speaker will be given 10 minutes to present their work.
Abstracts are limited to one per registrant and the registrant must be the first author on the abstract. Please limit your abstracts to 300 words, and abstracts must include title, authors, and affiliations.
Abstracts are reviewed on the last Tuesday of each month by the Program Committee. The committee’s decision is final. Decisions regarding posters will be sent via email within one week of the meeting. Acceptance notices regarding oral presentations will be delayed until October.
Final Notices will be sent out November 22nd.
Lodging, Transportation, and Food: Breakfast, Lunch, and Snacks will be provided. Parking fees are covered for all registrants. Recommendations for lodging will be made upon request.
Conference Agenda: The conference is tentatively scheduled run from 9am-5pm. Registration opens at 8am.
