The fifth annual Southeastern Medical Scientist Symposium (SEMSS)/APSA Southeast Regional Meeting is scheduled to be held at Emory from August 23-24, 2014. SEMMS was started in 2010 by MD/PhD students from University of Alabama at Birmingham, Emory University, and Vanderbilt University. This year SEMSS is collaborating with the Forge Healthcare Hack-a-Thon to sponsor several co-programing events. The goal of the symposium is to bring together faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students from schools around the southeastern United States to foster discussion about physician-scientist career paths and research and encourage a collaborative and interdisciplinary educational environment within the region. Additionally, students will be able to present their research, participate in a variety of breakout sessions covering a diverse range of topics, and hear from several keynote speakers who are well-respected experts in their fields of study. Interested students should register and submit an abstract.
