Dr. Evan Noch is a 6th-year MD/PhD candidate at Temple University School of Medicine. He recently completed his PhD studying the role of oncogenes in the regulation of oxygen and glucose metabolism in the pathogenesis of glioblastoma and medulloblastoma. Evan received his BS in Neuroscience from New York University in 2006. Since joining Temple in 2006, Evan has served as co-chair of various student organizations, including the Student Interest Group in Neurology and the Jewish Student Union. In addition, during his PhD training, Evan presented abstracts at several meetings, including the 10th Symposium of the International Society for Neurovirology in Milan, Italy, where he received the Volker ter Meulen Investigator-in-Training Award. Upon completion of his PhD, Evan received the Florence Gloria Freedman Award for Cancer Research. Evan has been a member of APSA for 4 years, served on the PR Committee last year, and is the current APSA Public Relations Chair and Institutional Representative for Temple. In addition, Evan is the founding President of the APSA Interest Group at Temple. As President, Evan developed a large number of activities over the course of the year, including residency research panels, research open houses, and MD/PhD alumni seminars, and built Temple’s APSA membership to nearly 75 students. Evan hopes to improve the visibility of APSA over this year and promote increased awareness of MD/PhD programs, training options, and career paths for young physician-scientists.
