Freddy Nguyen

Chairman

Mr. Freddy Nguyen is an MD-PhD Candidate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Medical Scholars Program.  He received his undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics from Rice University in 2002.  Mr. Nguyen was President from 2004-2008 and currently co-chairs the APSA Task Force on the Recruitment and Retention of Physician-Scientists.  Mr. Nguyen has been a member of the APSA Board of Directors since January of 2005 and elected as Chairman (2008-2011). He has served on the planning committee for the APM Physician-Scientist Initiative and the Consensus Conference, "Revitalization of the Nation’s Physician-Scientist Workforce".  Mr. Nguyen has advocated on behalf of phyician-scientist trainees at international and national meetings including to European MD-PhD Programs, to SMPA in Switzerland, to the CITAC in Canada, to the MD-PhD Section of the AAMC, and to the National Board of Medical Examiners.  Mr. Nguyen is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research Associate Member Council (2009-2012), the Association of Rice Alumni Board of Directors (2008-2011), and on the Board of Advisors of the Clinical and Translational Science Network.
