Shwayta Kukreti, PhD

Director

Dr. Shwayta Kukreti, PhD is an MD/PhD student at the University of Illinois Medical Scholars Program. She received her PhD in Biophysics and Computational Biology in 2007 working at the Laboratory for Fluorescence Dynamics in collaboration with the Beckman Laser Institute and Medical Clinic at the University of California-Irvine. Dr. Kukreti's research focus is in biomedical devices. More specifically, using lasers she is interested in developing methods of breast imaging and analysis in optical spectroscopy. Dr. Kukreti graduated Bronze Tablet, Summa Cum Laude, with Bachelors of Sciences degrees in Honors Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Illinois-Urbana, Champaign in 2003. She is currently the graduate assistant for the Women in Math, Science and Engineering Program at the University of Illinois-Urbana, Champaign. Dr. Kukreti joined APSA as Vice President from 2007-2008. Currently she serves on the Nominations Committee of the APSA Board of Directors.
