December 27, 2004: We are
pleased to announce the coming inclusion of
our counterparts in Canada with the start
with the expansion of the list of MD-PhD
Programs. There are currently 10 known
MD-PhD Programs being offered throughout
Canada and British Columbia and 6 of them
have their websites linked from APSA. An
Institutional Representative, Aaron Joe, has
been designated for the University of
British Columbia.
December 21, 2004: Richard
Wong has been designated the APSA
Institutional Representative for Tufts
University School of Medicine.
December 12, 2004: 115 out of
the 118 MD-PhD Programs websites in the
United States are now linked from the APSA
website. (http://www.physicianscientists.org/Programs.html)
December 07, 2004: APSA (http://www.physicianscientists.org/Meetings.html)
is formalizing its meeting in Chicago, IL
with the ASCI (http://www.asci-jci.org/meeting.shtml).
Some opportunities for APSA attendees
include full access to the ASCI meeting, and
the opportunity to present your research at
the ASCI poster session.
October 20, 2004: APSA is
continuously updating its list of links to
MD-PhD Programs. It is currently the most
up to date list of programs with the most
linked programs available on the web. 111
out of the 118 MD-PhD Programs websites are
linked from our website.
October 06, 2004: In
conjunction with the Student Doctor Network
Forums, we are proud to announce the
official launch of two forums that will be
co-hosted by the two organizations. The two
topics are: Applying to MD-PhD Programs,
MD-PhD Residency Topics. The
forums are accessible via our website.
September 23, 2004: Rafael
Galindo has been designated the APSA
Institutional Representative for the
University of New Mexico.
September 07, 2004: APSA is
working with the
American
Society for Clinical Investigation
(ASCI) to hold our inaugural regional
meeting in Chicago, IL (April 17, 2005) in
conjunction with ASCI's annual meeting
(April 15-17, 2005). More details to
follow. If you are from the Midwest area
and would like to suggest certain speakers /
events for the meeting, please feel free to
email us.
September 07, 2004: One of the
key objectives of APSA is help facilitate
the interactions not only between physician
scientists in training but with current
physician scientists. With that in mind,
APSA will be co-hosting a series of
discussion forums with the
Student Doctor Network Forums (SDN).
August 24, 2004: As a result
of the announcement on University of
Pittsburgh MD-PhD student website, APSA was
mentioned on the Student Doctor Network
Forums (SDN). The post can be seen
here.
August 17, 2004: APSA was
presented by an MD-PhD Student who heard us
at the National MD-PhD Student Conference on
July 10, 2004 at the University of
Pittsburgh's MD-PhD Program's Retreat. More
can be seen on their
student run website.
July 10, 2004: At the 19th
National MD-PhD Student Conference, APSA
unveiled its aims and objectives to the
largest cross-section of MD-PhD students
from across the country at a conference.
Students responded enthusiastically and
positively. A more formal and detailed
account of the questionnaire given at this
conference will be available at a later
date.
April 24-26, 2004: At the 2004
AAMC Group on Graduate Research, Education,
and Training Annual Meeting, APSA first
looked to current leaders in the education
of physician scientists for their advice,
and feedback regarding the association's
vision and goals. Attendees included
representatives from the NIH and ORI, deans
and assistant deans of graduate schools, and
M.D./Ph.D. directors. |
